From The Director
 Dear Friends,

The weather has begun to change here in south Mississippi….and Hope Haven has begun the path to our biggest changes since we were almost wiped out by hurricane Katrina.

Change can be scary….but change can also be a good thing…as it makes everyone stop and take note of what is going on around them and what is really important.

The Board of Directors have done just that…what is going on around us…what are the important things that we need to be doing….with the decreasing resources that we…and other charities are experiencing due to the economy.

On our hope page you will see the new priorities we have set for ourselves.  We will refine them as the New Year unfolds but we are confident that we are focusing on the things that need changing and on the things that we can change.

After battling for two years to change the regulations concerning the number of children the State would allow us to keep in our foster home, without success…we have set our sights on recruiting more foster families…as that is the only way we will be able to provide local children with a safe local home to stay in while they are in custody.  Our goal is to recruit 15 new foster families in the local area…over the next 12 months. 

I will discuss some of our other new mission areas soon.   Please bear with us as we make additional changes to our webpage.
